Medical services for participants of the GeSY system

All people who legally reside in the controlled territory of the Republic of Cyprus and meet the beneficiary criteria can register with ΓεΣΥ.

Main categories:

• Citizens of the Republic of Cyprus.
• EU citizens who work in Cyprus or have permanent residence status.
• Third-country nationals with a valid Residence Permit / ARC.
• Family members of already registered beneficiaries.
• People with an S1 document (European pensioners).

Important condition: habitual residence in Cyprus and registration in the relevant government records (Civil Registry / Migration Department and Social Insurance, if applicable).

For Cypriot citizens, registration usually requires only a Cyprus identity card (ID card).

Foreign citizens need:

• A valid Alien Registration Certificate (ARC) and Residence Permit.
• Passport.
• Proof of residence in Cyprus (rental agreement, utility bills, etc.).
• Confirmation of registration with Social Insurance Services, if available.

Depending on the person's status, additional documents may be required, such as proof of family relationship, an S1 form, and others.

ΓεΣΥ covers a wide range of medical services:

• Appointments with a Personal Doctor (general practitioner).
• Specialist consultations by referral.
• Laboratory tests and diagnostics.
• Medicines included in the ΓεΣΥ list.
• Inpatient treatment in accredited hospitals.
• Emergency care and ambulance services.
• Services from physiotherapists, nurses, and midwives.
• Prevention, rehabilitation, and treatment of chronic diseases.

Most services require a small patient co-payment.

In ΓεΣΥ, you can usually change your Personal Doctor after 6 months from the date you registered with your current doctor. For children under 2 years old, the change can be made at any time.
